The African Banker Awards: Nadia Fettah named Finance Minister of the Year
This trophy was awarded to the minister during a ceremony held on the sidelines of the African Development Bank (AfDB) Annual Meetings, for the prudent macroeconomic policies implemented and the reforms undertaken to stimulate investment.
The Minister of Economy and Finance, Nadia Fettah, was named Finance Minister of the Year on Wednesday evening in Abidjan during the 2025 edition of the “African Banker” Awards.
This “Finance Minister of the Year” trophy was presented to Ms. Fettah at a ceremony held alongside the AfDB Annual Meetings, recognizing her prudent macroeconomic policies and reforms aimed at creating a favorable investment climate.
The Banker of the Year award went to Patricia Ojangole, Managing Director of Uganda Development Bank.
Meanwhile, the Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) won the “Central Bank Governor of the Year” trophy, while the “Lifetime Achievement Award” was given to Idrissa Nassa, CEO of Coris Bank International (CBI).
The Trade and Development Bank of East and Southern Africa (TDB) received the “African Bank of the Year” award.
The Development Finance Institution of the Year award was given to the African Trade Insurance Agency (Kenya), and the “SME Bank of the Year” trophy was won by CRDB Bank Plc (Tanzania).
In the “Deals of the Year” category, Afreximbank, Africa Finance Corporation, and Bank of Industry won the “Deal of the Year – Debt” award, while PwC Nigeria and the African Development Bank won the “Deal of the Year – Equity” and “Deal of the Year – Infrastructure” trophies respectively.
By region, the best banks in Africa are Commercial International Bank (North Africa), Mauritius Commercial Bank (South Africa), Equity Bank (East Africa), BGFIBank (Central Africa), and Guaranty Trust Bank (West Africa).
The Sustainable Bank award went to Nedbank of South Africa, while 4G Capital won the “Fintech of the Year” trophy.
