Southern provinces : Structuring projects creating wealth and jobs
Since the launch of the New Development Model for the southern provinces, the three regions have experienced strong socioeconomic momentum. The achievements made and the projects underway carry many promising prospects.
Thanks to various large-scale structuring projects, the southern provinces of the Kingdom are experiencing socioeconomic development with a strong impact on local populations, stated the head of government. Speaking before the House of Representatives during the session devoted to monthly oral questions on “the general development and investment policy in the southern provinces”, Aziz Akhannouch particularly highlighted the contribution of the Tiznit-Dakhla expressway and the Dakhla Atlantic port.
Regarding the Tiznit-Dakhla expressway, which stretches over 1,100 kilometers, the head of government emphasized that this infrastructure is a crucial lever for the socioeconomic development of the three southern regions of the Kingdom, just as it contributes to strengthening the ties between northern and southern Morocco. More importantly, Akhannouch underscored, this infrastructure, which involved an investment of 10 billion dirhams and will benefit 2.5 million citizens, also serves to reinforce the Kingdom’s African ties.
Similarly, the Dakhla Atlantic port project will play a driving role in the economic momentum experienced by the southern provinces of the Kingdom. This applies both in terms of creating thousands of direct and indirect job opportunities and strengthening the attractiveness of foreign investment. It should also be noted that this port infrastructure will further reinforce Morocco’s anchoring in its African depth.
Together, one sees the promising prospects opening up for the socioeconomic fabric of the southern provinces of the Kingdom. Especially since the launch of the New Development Model for these provinces, which mobilized an initial budget of around 77 billion dirhams.
In his speech, the head of government did not fail to point out that since its establishment, the Executive has committed to accelerating the pace of completion of the various projects related to this new development model. The fruits of these efforts are increasingly visible.
