The rehabilitation and enhancement of the Central Market of Casablanca are entering a new phase. Following the awarding of the engineering project management contract (MOEI), Casablanca Aménagement is launching renovation works on this emblematic site located on Mohammed V Boulevard, for an amount of 33.4 million dirhams (MAD).

Spanning twelve months, the works notably include earthworks, roadworks, and civil engineering, as well as construction and refurbishment operations across all trades, including waterproofing, metal framework, and roofing.

Designed by architect Omar Alaoui, the project provides for a complete restructuring of the market, which covers an area of 8,000 m². The new layout will be organized around two levels: a ground floor dedicated to food and specialized retail, and a second level in the form of a terrace accessible to the public.

This rooftop, located approximately 8 meters high, will host several dining spaces of around 35 m² each, arranged around a landscaped walkway. Waiting and relaxation areas, a children’s play area, as well as sanitary facilities are also planned.

The works, whose contractor will be announced on May 6, will also include the installation of modern sanitation, drinking water, electricity, and fire safety networks, as well as the installation of elevators and access for persons with reduced mobility (PRM).
