ONDA: Digitalization of the Passenger Journey at Mohammed V Airport
This initiative, including self-service check-in kiosks and Self Bag Drop, aims to streamline passenger flow, reduce wait times, and offer a faster, more secure experience for the thousands of travelers expected during AFCON 2025.
A few days after the kick-off of the Africa Cup of Nations 2025, the National Airports Office (ONDA) accelerated the deployment of its digitalized passenger journey at Mohammed V Airport in Casablanca. This initiative aims to streamline passenger flow and improve the experience for the thousands of travelers expected during the competition.
The system relies on the integration of the latest digital and biometric technologies and was made operational specifically for AFCON 2025. According to ONDA, this commissioning will help reduce wait times and absorb the significant increase in passenger traffic.
In this context, ONDA, in collaboration with Royal Air Maroc, has installed 10 automated Self Bag Drop kiosks on Level 0 of Terminal 1. These kiosks allow passengers to deposit their luggage autonomously after check-in and printing their boarding pass. They operate in “One Step” or “Two Steps” mode and strictly adhere to the airline’s operational rules, as well as the prevailing safety and security standards. According to the Office, this system ensures smooth, secure, and fully digitalized baggage handling for RAM passengers.
Simultaneously, 12 self-service check-in kiosks have been deployed on Level 1 of Terminal 2. They are intended for passengers traveling without checked baggage, allowing them to complete their check-in via self-service, with direct access to boarding circuits. Several airlines, including Air Arabia, Air Saudi, and Egypt Air, have already integrated their applications into these kiosks, while other airlines operating at Terminal 2 will gradually join the system.
For travelers, this system translates into a simpler and faster journey: autonomous check-in, printing of the boarding pass, and baggage drop-off in just minutes, without queues. Passengers without checked baggage proceed directly to boarding after their check-in. Overall, this contributes to making the passage through Mohammed V Airport more fluid, more readable, and more comfortable.
According to ONDA, this digitalization complements and reinforces all operational, human, and technological measures deployed to make AFCON 2025 a logistical and organizational success, while offering an optimized experience to supporters and travelers.
