LGV: ONCF orders 8 self-propelled lorries for 54.48 MDH

The ONCF is taking a new step in modernizing its high-speed rail network by launching a call for tenders for eight self-propelled lorries dedicated to maintaining overhead lines. Estimated at 54.48 MDH, this contract aims to strengthen the fleet of vehicles capable of ensuring the safety and reliability of the Tanger-Casablanca line, while supporting its upcoming extension to Marrakech.

These bimodal vehicles, designed to operate on rails as well as on difficult terrain, are specially equipped to perform high-altitude work on electrified lines. They combine a scissor lift platform reaching nine meters, a telescopic basket of thirteen meters with a 6.2-meter outreach, as well as a 400 kg handling crane, all powered by a high-performance Diesel engine. Compliant with European standards EN 280 and UIC 505-1 and adapted to Moroccan climatic conditions, these machines will enable precise interventions on the supports, gantries, and feeders of the overhead lines, while ensuring operator safety.

The contract also includes a lot of spare parts covering two years of operation and a comprehensive training program for ONCF personnel. Twenty-four operators will undergo two weeks of training on the use of the machines, while six technicians will receive four weeks of training on advanced maintenance, ensuring optimal and sustainable operation.

The call for tenders, currently in the submission phase, will be awarded after the opening of bids, scheduled for February 4, 2026, in Rabat.

To recall, this investment is part of a broader plan, with nearly 10 MMDH in investments planned between 2025 and 2027, excluding projects related to the 2030 World Cup. It illustrates ONCF’s commitment to anticipating the increase in traffic, expanding its high-speed network, and strengthening its maintenance capabilities to provide a safe, efficient, and sustainable operation of Moroccan high-speed rail.
