Agriculture: Government Strengthens Support for Youth Cooperatives
The government has specifically allocated 121,000 hectares of state-owned land for 1,700 projects, representing a total investment of 24 billion dirhams and the creation of some 69,000 jobs.
The Executive has established new mechanisms to support development and employment in rural and mountainous areas across the Kingdom, specifically stated the Head of Government, Aziz Akhannouch.
In response to a central question in the House of Representatives on “the general policy regarding very small and small enterprises,” he emphasized that the Executive has implemented new mechanisms to guide and support young project holders in the agricultural sector, through the creation, in each region, of Regional Centers for Young Agricultural and Agrifood Entrepreneurs (CRJEA).
Technical and financial support for cooperatives of young agricultural project holders has also been strengthened, under the framework of solidarity agriculture projects, which target approximately 13,800 young people, to benefit from support and guidance activities covering 5,200 projects distributed across various programs.
For optimal utilization of agricultural land, Mr. Akhannouch reported the mobilization of 121,000 hectares of state-owned land for 1,700 projects, representing a total investment of 24 billion dirhams and the creation of some 69,000 jobs.
He also noted the mobilization of nearly one million hectares of “soulaliyate” lands and the establishment of a governance system as well as an integrated support framework for agricultural project holders.
In this context, he pointed out that an assessment of the agricultural potential of 324,000 hectares of fallow land has been conducted, with the approval of 3,053 lease projects and the signing of partnership agreements for 35,000 hectares of collective land by the Provincial Commissions in charge of leasing.
The recent transformations in the state’s investment policy have reshaped the development plan in Morocco, observed the Head of Government, noting that this dynamic also strengthens the capacity of regions to carry out economic revitalization and entrepreneurship programs and promotes the territorial dimension in the fields of employment and social progress.
