Morocco’s video game market is experiencing rapid growth, with projections indicating revenues of 5.5 billion dirhams by 2025 and 8 billion by 2029, driven by an 8% annual growth rate. User engagement is set to reach 16.9 million by 2029 (39% penetration), climbing to 42% by 2030, with downloadable games dominating at over one billion dirhams in revenue within two years.

The console rivalry between Sony and Microsoft intensifies locally, with PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, and Nintendo Switch priced between 3,300–6,000 dirhams. Meanwhile, gaming PCs gain popularity for their versatility in gaming, content creation, and scalability—advantages over consoles.

Educational initiatives are fueling this growth. Institutions like Rabat’s International University offer specialized programs in game design and coding, collaborating with global partners to prepare students for the industry. By 2030, Morocco aims to create 5,000 gaming jobs, including roles like Game Designer and Concept Artist.

Beyond entertainment, the sector is positioned as an economic catalyst, with ambitions to transition from consumer (e.g., FIFA, Call of Duty) to creator of original content. As talent and investment grow, Morocco eyes a competitive role in the global gaming arena, leveraging education and innovation to secure its place as a regional digital powerhouse.
