Marrakech: Next-Generation Buses Strengthen the Urban Transport Fleet
As part of an ambitious program to renew the fleet and improve service, 349 new buses have been acquired, of which 207 have already been delivered and put into service, 127 are in the process of acquisition, and 15 electric buses are awaiting delivery, representing a total investment of nearly 717.48 million dirhams (MAD).
The urban transport fleet in Marrakech has been strengthened with the introduction of next-generation buses.
The goal is to improve service quality and citizens’ mobility, as part of the restructuring project of the GCT “Marrakech Transport” network.
The program includes 349 buses, of which 207 are already in operation, 127 are being acquired, and 15 electric buses are awaiting delivery, for an investment of approximately 717.48 million MAD.
Modern systems for ticketing, operational support, and passenger information have also been acquired for 110.31 million MAD.
The future network will include 25 lines, including 3 electric lines, covering 281 km, with a coverage rate increased to 83.5%.
The semi-urban network will expand from 22 to 39 lines, totaling approximately 1,060 km, with coverage reaching 29.1%.
The new buses are equipped with advanced technologies, including real-time information, air conditioning, Wi-Fi, surveillance cameras, and facilities for people with reduced mobility.
The service is operated under delegated management, supervised by the GCT “Marrakech Transport”.
