Morocco–Liberia: Signing of a security cooperation agreement
The DGSN and the National Police of Liberia have concluded a memorandum of understanding aimed at strengthening their cooperation in the field of security. This agreement provides for intensified information-sharing, training, and operational coordination to combat cross-border crime, terrorism, and violent extremism.
The Director General of National Security and Territorial Surveillance, Abdellatif Hammouchi, and the Inspector General of the National Police of the Republic of Liberia, Gregory Coleman, signed a memorandum of understanding on Monday in Rabat aimed at strengthening security cooperation between the two countries.
The signing ceremony took place as part of the 7th edition of the Open Days of the General Directorate of National Security (DGSN), according to a statement from the institution.
This memorandum reflects the shared commitment of both countries to strengthen their ties of friendship, technical cooperation, and operational partnership between police services. It underscores a common belief that cooperation is the foundation for consolidating collective security.
At the operational level, the document aims to establish a solid basis for police cooperation to combat various forms of transnational crime, terrorism, and violent extremism through the exchange of intelligence, technical assistance, operational collaboration, and capacity-building for security services.
The memorandum also provides for expanding bilateral police cooperation to include coordination of efforts and action plans in areas such as migration, border control, forensic and technical policing, as well as police training and the enhancement of pedagogical methods to develop the skills of security personnel.
The signing of this new agreement highlights the importance attached to strengthening security partnerships in Africa, with a view to consolidating South–South cooperation. It also reflects the DGSN’s intention to open up to new regional and international partners in order to promote the Moroccan security model and serve the Kingdom’s broader interests, the statement concludes.
