Urban bus transport: 84 cities and urban areas covered by the new 11 billion MAD program

Morocco has launched a new national urban bus transport program for the period 2025-2029, with a budget of 11 billion dirhams.

This program will cover 84 cities and urban areas and aims to modernize the sector with the purchase of 3,746 buses,

the installation of ticketing and information systems, as well as the construction of infrastructure such as parking lots and bus stops.

It introduces a new governance model based on the separation between investment and operation,

with funding provided at one third by the regions and two thirds by the State.

The implementation will take place in three phases.

The first has already begun in 23 cities, including Marrakech,

Tangier, and Fez, with calls for tenders for the purchase of buses and management systems.
