Traffic Fines: Ministry of Justice Warns Against a Fraudulent Website

The Ministry of Justice warned, this Friday, against a fraudulent website for the payment of fines related to traffic violations recorded by fixed speed cameras, impersonating the official service affiliated with the ministry.

This warning follows SMS messages received by some citizens inviting them to pay, before April 5 of the current year, fines related to traffic violations recorded by fixed speed cameras, warning them that non-payment would result in the recovery of the full amount of the fine in addition to late payment penalties, according to a statement from the Ministry of Justice.

The same source specifies that the website in question “https://amendes-justice-gov.lat/ma” is fraudulent and impersonates the official service affiliated with the ministry dedicated to the payment of fines, accessible via the ministry’s secure official link, namely: https://amendes.justice.gov.ma.

The ministry urges all citizens to exercise extreme vigilance and to access the ministry’s official electronic services exclusively through the website https://mahakim.ma, while refraining from clicking on suspicious links received via SMS or email.

It also calls for ensuring the authenticity of websites before entering personal information and for not sharing sensitive data (bank details or passwords) on non-official websites.

The ministry indicates that it has undertaken the necessary steps with the competent authorities in order to put an end to this fraudulent activity and to protect users, inviting any person who suspects having been a victim of fraud or who possesses information on this matter to immediately inform the relevant authorities.

The Ministry of Justice reiterates, in this regard, its commitment to preserving the security of digital services and protecting citizens’ data.
