The Moroccan Caftan Officially Inscribed on UNESCO’s Intangible Cultural Heritage List
This inscription is an international recognition of Morocco’s artistic genius and centuries-old craftsmanship, as well as the Kingdom’s ability to preserve, promote, and transmit its traditions.
The Moroccan caftan is officially inscribed on UNESCO’s Intangible Cultural Heritage list after a decision made during the 20th session of the Intergovernmental Committee in New Delhi.
This recognition honors the ancestral craftsmanship, art, and traditions associated with the caftan. It highlights the vision of His Majesty King Mohammed VI in favor of heritage preservation.
The caftan is recognized as a symbol of elegance, identity, and intergenerational transmission in all regions of Morocco.
This inscription also confirms the Kingdom’s active role within UNESCO.
