Royal Air Maroc Launches Its Direct Casablanca-Munich Route
The inaugural flight of this new route, operated with two weekly frequencies (Mondays and Fridays), took off from Casablanca’s Mohammed V Airport at 1:30 PM and landed at 6:00 PM at Munich International Airport.
The national airline, Royal Air Maroc (RAM), inaugurated its new direct route connecting Casablanca to Munich on Monday, marking a new step in strengthening air connectivity between Morocco and Germany.
The inaugural flight of this new route, operated with two weekly frequencies (Mondays and Fridays), took off from Casablanca’s Mohammed V Airport at 1:30 PM and landed at 6:00 PM at Munich International Airport, one of the main air hubs of Bavaria, Germany’s largest state.
On this occasion, a reception was organized in the boarding area of Munich Airport, featuring the traditional ribbon-cutting ceremony that symbolized the inauguration of this direct flight, warmly welcomed by the Moroccan and African communities in Germany as well as by many tourists wishing to travel to Morocco.
Passengers preparing to board this flight to Morocco shared a convivial moment and attended the cake-cutting ceremony, alongside Royal Air Maroc teams in Germany, the representative of the Moroccan Embassy in Berlin, and officials from Munich Airport, the country’s second-largest hub.
Upon arrival, the guests, accompanied by airport authorities, witnessed the traditional “water salute” ceremony on the tarmac, during which the Royal Air Maroc aircraft was welcomed under an arch of water jets, followed by a photo session with the inaugural flight crew.
According to Royal Air Maroc, this opening represents a strategic bridge between Morocco and Germany, aimed at fostering economic, cultural, and technological exchanges between the two countries. It also responds to the growing demand for connectivity between Morocco, Germany, and neighboring markets such as Austria and Switzerland.
With this new connection, Munich becomes the second German destination served regularly by Royal Air Maroc, after Frankfurt. The airline already operates a daily flight between Frankfurt and Casablanca, as well as seasonal routes from Düsseldorf and Frankfurt to Nador and Oujda.
This network expansion is part of the airline’s development plan, recently illustrated by the opening of several new international and domestic routes, aimed at consolidating Casablanca’s position as a key air hub connecting Africa, Europe, and the rest of the world.
The new route will meet the needs of tourists, the Moroccan and African diasporas, as well as business travelers. It also aims to boost tourism by offering German tour operators the opportunity to market travel packages departing from Munich and Frankfurt.
Additionally, it will provide German passengers with direct and seamless access to Royal Air Maroc’s African network, particularly to West Africa.
Munich, a major industrial and technological hub in Europe, will benefit from this direct connection with Casablanca, a leading economic and financial center in Africa, opening new perspectives for talent mobility and business partnership development.
Through this initiative, Royal Air Maroc reaffirms its commitment to strengthening Morocco’s and the African continent’s connectivity with the rest of the world, while ensuring its passengers a travel experience based on comfort, reliability, and safety.
