The Royal Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF) is accelerating the implementation of the future football stadium project in Nador. Through the Société Al Omrane Région de l’Oriental, the body chaired by Fouzi Lekjaa launched, on December 24, an architectural competition for the design and construction supervision of this new sports complex.
With a minimum capacity of 20,000 seats, the stadium will be built on an 18.5-hectare plot located in the municipality of Nador. It will include a natural grass playing field, fully covered stands, facilities under the stands, a large forecourt, as well as outdoor amenities, not forgetting access and connections with the surrounding urban fabric.
Budgeted at 358 million dirhams (MDH) excluding taxes, the work will cover the structural work, fixed equipment and installations, ground adaptations, and outdoor developments.
Technically Feasible and Financially Viable Solutions
According to the documents accompanying the consultation, “the main objective of this architectural competition is to promote the emergence of innovative architectural solutions, adapted to the Moroccan context.” The project owner pays particular attention to the design of the roof and the treatment of the facades, calling on candidates to propose solutions that are both technically feasible and financially viable.
As a major public facility, the future stadium must also integrate harmoniously into its urban environment, through a careful design of its architectural envelope and its outdoor spaces.
Bidders are therefore invited to present a high-level architectural proposal, reconciling functionality, aesthetic quality, and the promotion of sporting activity, both nationally and internationally. The name of the architect selected for this project is expected to be known on February 3.
