According to the French General Staff’s social network X, the naval exercise is organized within the framework of the 5+5 Defense Initiative.

Note that the exercise involved eight Mediterranean coastal countries: France, Spain, Italy, Malta, Tunisia, Libya, Mauritania, and Morocco.

This multilateral maneuver, which aims to strengthen operational cooperation between the navies of the two shores in the face of growing threats in the region, covers a plethora of operational aspects: assistance at sea, surveillance, and the fight against illicit trafficking.

It also contributes to the development of a common maritime security culture and to the increase of collective action capacities of the various partner countries.
