The importance of deepening economic exchanges between Morocco and Brazil beyond agribusiness was underscored on Wednesday in Marrakech during a high-level panel held as part of the LIDE Brazil-Morocco Forum, which brought together over a hundred business leaders and institutional officials from both countries.

Speaking at the panel titled “Business Development Between Brazil and Morocco,” former Brazilian President Michel Temer highlighted the potential of this cooperation, stating that bilateral relations are poised to grow “increasingly prosperous.”

In this context, he affirmed that Brazil now has the opportunity to expand its activities in Morocco across multiple sectors, well beyond agribusiness, asserting that “Brazil is fully open to this dynamic.”

In the same vein, Ali Seddiki, Director General of the Moroccan Agency for Investment Development and Exports (AMDIE), emphasized that “Morocco and Brazil are two dynamic emerging economies, sharing a history of mutual respect and, above all, a common ambition: to build equitable, sustainable partnerships anchored in a long-term vision.”

Seddiki noted that bilateral trade between the two countries reached nearly $3 billion in 2024, marking a 4.52% increase compared to the previous year, according to data from the Arab-Brazilian Chamber of Commerce. He clarified that Brazil now ranks among the Kingdom’s (Morocco) top ten trading partners.

“Our two countries share a natural openness to the Atlantic axis, which does not divide us but brings us closer,” he added, stressing that this shared geography could create new bridges in a world where economic exchanges are being redefined.

Other panel participants highlighted the complementarity of Moroccan and Brazilian economies, as well as their shared commitment to strengthening bilateral cooperation amid a global context marked by significant economic and geopolitical challenges. They stressed the importance of a pragmatic partnership based on expertise exchange, sector diversification, and innovative initiatives to consolidate trade ties and unlock new investment opportunities.

Speakers also emphasized the need to diversify cooperation sectors, intensify cross-investments, and promote joint projects in strategic fields such as industry, renewable energy, green technologies, and innovation.

Organized by the Business Leaders Group (LIDE), the forum—elevated by the participation of former Brazilian President Michel Temer, alongside ministers, diplomats, and economic stakeholders—aims to bolster bilateral cooperation and open new business prospects between Morocco and Brazil.

The agenda features several panels addressing diverse themes, including agribusiness, energy transition, trade, tourism, technology, and services.
