Morocco at UNESCO’s Africa Week with a rich and diverse programme
The Kingdom will take part in several meetings and thematic panels included in the programme of this edition, particularly on issues related to water and sanitation.
Morocco will take part in UNESCO’s Africa Week, which will be held from 19 to 22 May, with a rich and diverse programme.
In its 2026 edition, UNESCO’s Africa Week, organised by the Organisation’s Africa Group, highlights the importance of collective engagement around the theme “Ensuring sustainable availability of water and safe sanitation systems to achieve the objectives of Agenda 2063.”
The Kingdom will participate in several meetings and thematic panel discussions included in the programme of this edition, notably on issues related to water and sanitation, as well as the challenges of sustainable management of water resources across the African continent, according to information from Morocco’s Permanent Delegation to UNESCO.
Morocco will also be present in the various spaces for expression and dialogue scheduled throughout the week, including the “Youth Crossroads”, exhibitions, and the African Book Fair, showcasing national initiatives.
The Kingdom will further contribute to the artistic and creative activities on the programme, notably through the Fashion Show.
“This edition will offer a rich and diverse programme structured around conferences, high‑level panels, youth activities, meetings with civil society, exhibitions, cinema, gastronomy, a book fair, a fashion show and a gala,” UNESCO states on its website.
Through these highlights, “UNESCO and the Africa Group will shed light on key issues related to water, youth, culture and sustainable development on the African continent,” the same source adds.
