MOGA Festival: 51.5 million dirhams injected into the local and national economy
Combining measurable tourism impact, international visibility, and a large-scale programme, the MOGA Festival has established itself as a key player in Morocco’s electronic music scene, while celebrating a decade of immersive experiences blending music, culture, and contemporary creation.
Beyond the parties and the beats, the MOGA Festival — scheduled from 30 September to 4 October — also stands as a genuine economic driver for the “City of the Trade Winds.” The socio-economic impact study of the 2025 edition, conducted by K&Co and released in early 2026, presents a compelling overview: 15,000 participants, 51.5 million dirhams (MAD) generated in local and national economic spending, 1,404 direct jobs created, and a satisfaction rate of 92% among festivalgoers.
The study also highlights a significant tourism impact: more than a third of participants extend their stay in Essaouira, thereby boosting accommodation, catering, and local activities. Through its MOGA OFF programme, deployed across 37 partner venues in the medina, the festival spreads activity throughout the city and actively contributes to enhancing its cultural and entrepreneurial ecosystem.
Ten years after its creation, MOGA returns to its birthplace to celebrate its anniversary. Following six editions in Essaouira (2016, 2018, 2019, 2022, 2024 and 2025) and five in Portugal since 2021, the festival marks a decade of existence, having built a loyal community gathered around the #MogaTribe ethos, while playing a decisive role in structuring Morocco’s electronic music scene.
A pioneer of its kind in Morocco, MOGA has become a key event for electronic music in the Kingdom. Each early October, it attracts thousands of national and international festivalgoers, strengthening Essaouira’s cultural appeal and global visibility. As the first Moroccan project in the sector to expand abroad, it has extended to Portugal, to Spain since 2025, and is preparing an edition in Brazil, while continuing to promote Moroccan identity internationally.
Experience
True to its DNA, MOGA goes beyond DJ sets to offer an immersive experience where electronic music, wellness, gastronomy, surfing, craftsmanship and contemporary creation converge. The 2026 edition will be structured around two key moments:
From 30 September to 1 October, MOGA OFF will animate the entire city free of charge with DJ sets, concerts, surf sessions, yoga classes, open-air cinema, workshops and encounters in Essaouira’s iconic locations.
Then, from 2 to 4 October, MOGA IN will take over the Hôtel Le Golf d’Essaouira & Spa, transformed into an immersive village in the heart of a palm grove, featuring four stages, a creators’ market and a programme designed for full immersion.
To celebrate this anniversary, the organisers have chosen to spotlight figures who have shaped the festival’s history. Jamie Jones will perform in Morocco for the first time, The Martinez Brothers will return twenty years after their last appearance in the country, and the Dutch duo ANOTR will close the event with their globally renowned No Art concept.
The Moroccan scene will also be represented with a unique back-to-back set between Daox and Amine K. The line-up further brings together a wide range of international artists, local talents and emerging figures, including Alexis Cabrera (live), Calabasa, Cesar Merveille, Enrica Falqui, Fantastic Man B2B Tornado Wallace, Fort Romeau, Hamadeus, Hyde, Jakaw, Jhobei, Jilali, Julian Anthony, Kalabrese, Loewenthal, Mamba Skar, Memed Awad, Moruki, N4bz, Notre Dame, Ousseki, Oz & Rem, Rain, Ramyen, Rhadoo, Tunik, Viken Arman, Voigtmann, Yahya (live), and Yaya.
Finally, in keeping with its commitment to the local scene, MOGA gives significant prominence to Moroccan collectives. Hush Hush, Supervibe, Cartoon and LVR will be fully integrated into the programme, embodying the vitality and rise of a new generation of Moroccan DJs and creators.
