MGE 2026: Four agreements to structure the gaming industry in Morocco
On the sidelines of the 3rd edition of the Morocco Gaming Expo, the Ministry of Youth, Culture and Communication signed four partnership agreements on Wednesday in Rabat aimed at developing gaming professions, promoting children’s rights, and democratising access to digital skills.
The first agreement, concluded with the Ministry of Higher Education, aims to train nearly 4,000 video game specialists by 2029, including technicians, engineers and researchers.
In this regard, Minister Azzedine El Midaoui emphasised that, in the face of the massive enthusiasm among young people for video game products that are often imported and weakly regulated, the Kingdom must take control of the entire value chain of this industry, with the objective of moving from a logic of mere consumption to one of genuine local production, structured and grounded on scientific foundations.
The second agreement, signed with the CDG and the Moroccan Society of Tourism Engineering (SMIT), concerns the implementation of the Ministry’s Gamification Lab programmes and SMIT’s leisure gaming initiatives. It aims to stimulate innovation and entrepreneurship within the gaming ecosystem, while also developing a structured leisure offering.
Within this framework, the CDG will act as a driving force between startups and public administrations, facilitating their access to financing and both domestic and international markets.
A memorandum was also signed with UNICEF to mobilise stakeholders in the sector around the protection of children’s rights and to ensure a safe digital environment for young users.
Finally, a fourth agreement, involving HP and the NGO eSTEM Morocco, provides for the rollout of a training programme in gaming professions via the HP Gaming Garage platform, accessible to young holders of the Pass Jeunes in youth centres throughout Morocco.
Under the theme “Moroccan Talent”, this edition is part of the Royal Vision to make Rabat—designated UNESCO World Book Capital 2026—a dynamic cultural and digital hub.
