Meknès Will Finally Get Its Tourist Buses
A call for tenders has just been launched for the acquisition of two tourist buses for the city of Meknès. This project is part of the Program for the Rehabilitation and Enhancement of the Medina of the Ismaelian City.
The project to equip the city of Meknès with tourist buses has been in the pipeline in recent years. Its implementation has just been confirmed with the launch of the call for tenders opened by the Agency for the Development and Rehabilitation of the City of Fès (ADER-FES), which falls under the Ministry of the Interior.
Let us recall from the outset that the acquisition of tourist buses is part of the partnership and funding agreement for the Program for the Rehabilitation and Enhancement of the Medina of Meknès, signed before His Majesty the King in 2018.
Budgeted for a total amount of 9.6 million dirhams, the tender, for which the bid opening is scheduled for October 28, aims to acquire two tourist buses for the city of Meknès, as a single lot divided into two phases (1 tourist bus for the firm phase and 1 bus for the conditional phase).
According to the documents attached to the call for tenders, reviewed by us, the successful bidder must supply the city of Meknès with two new buses, certified and compliant with current technical, environmental, and safety standards.
According to the same sources, the two heavy-duty vehicles will be specially designed for tourist use and will offer optimal comfort to users. To this end, the two tourist buses will feature a panoramic configuration (allowing optimal visibility of the urban landscape), a multilingual audio guide system, accessibility devices for people with reduced mobility, as well as modern equipment enhancing the passenger experience (connectivity, signage, etc.).
Additionally, the services to be provided by the contract holder include the supply, delivery, customs clearance, and commissioning of the tourist buses. They are also responsible for all procedures related to customs clearance, certification, and registration. Furthermore, the holder must ensure the handover of technical documentation and operation manuals, as well as after-sales service, technical assistance, and warranty.
Note that the delivery deadline for the contract is set at 12 months for the firm phase and 1 year for the conditional phase.
