Kerosene price surge: Royal Air Maroc suspends 12 international routes to Africa and Europe
Bangui, Kinshasa, Douala, Lyon, Barcelona and Brussels are among twelve destinations temporarily removed from Royal Air Maroc’s network. The airline cites the sharp rise in kerosene prices and a slowdown in demand to justify this temporary adjustment to its flight schedule.
Royal Air Maroc has been compelled to adjust its international network in response to particularly difficult conditions. The national airline cites two main factors: the sharp rise in kerosene prices, directly linked to geopolitical tensions in the Middle East, and a slowdown in demand on certain routes. This phenomenon is affecting the entire global aviation sector and has led many airlines to revise their scheduling.
In this context, Royal Air Maroc has announced the temporary suspension of twelve international routes. Six destinations in Central Africa are affected from Casablanca: Bangui, Brazzaville, Kinshasa, Douala, Yaoundé and Libreville. In addition, two routes from Tangier to Málaga and Barcelona, as well as four from Marrakech to Lyon, Bordeaux, Marseille and Brussels, are suspended.
The airline states that it will implement all necessary measures to support passengers affected by these suspensions and to minimise inconvenience as much as possible. Royal Air Maroc also indicates that it is closely monitoring developments in the international situation and is committed to gradually restoring these routes as soon as operational and economic conditions allow.
