Investment: Morocco attracts new Swedish operators
Swedish companies have expressed growing interest in investing in Morocco, highlighting the guarantees offered by the exchange rate regime, particularly regarding convertibility and the repatriation of capital.
Swedish economic operators expressed, on Tuesday in Rabat, strong interest in investing in Morocco during a meeting with the Foreign Exchange Office, organized as part of a working visit by a delegation of Swedish companies.
This enthusiasm was particularly reinforced by the guarantees offered by Morocco’s foreign exchange system, notably regarding the convertibility of capital transactions and the repatriation of dividends—elements considered decisive for securing and ensuring the profitability of foreign investments, the Foreign Exchange Office stated in a press release.
Led by Sweden’s Ambassador to Morocco, Fredrika Ornbrant, the delegation also included representatives of Business Sweden, as well as Swedish public financial institutions specialized in supporting exports and international investment.
During this meeting, attended by officials from the relevant departments of the Ministry of Economy and Finance, the Director of the Foreign Exchange Office, Driss Benchikh, highlighted the strengths of Morocco’s foreign exchange regulatory framework, emphasizing the facilities granted to foreign investors and foreign residents in terms of fund transfers and convertibility.
The discussions underscored the growing confidence of Swedish investors in Morocco’s business environment, as well as their willingness to strengthen their presence in strategic sectors, particularly those related to energy transition and sustainable development.
This dynamic is part of the ongoing strengthening of economic and financial relations between Morocco and Sweden, supported by an open and investment-friendly regulatory framework.
