Inauguration in Rome of the Moroccan Chamber of Commerce in Italy

The Moroccan Chamber of Commerce in Italy (CCMI) was inaugurated on November 18 in Rome, with the objectives of strengthening bilateral economic cooperation, promoting investments, and creating sustainable opportunities between businesses of the two countries.

A dual inaugural ceremony for this first Moroccan chamber of commerce in the transalpine country took place at the headquarters of this new structure, then at the Italian Senate, in the presence of several Moroccan and Italian personalities from various political, economic, and cultural backgrounds, as well as actors representing all regions of the Peninsula.

Speaking on this occasion, the President of the Moroccan Chamber of Commerce in Italy, Marouan El Mansoub, indicated that this new entity aims to be “a strategic bridge” between businesses and entrepreneurs of the two countries, focused on promoting bilateral trade and economic exchanges.

While praising the development momentum that Morocco is experiencing under the leadership of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, the President of the CCMI noted that Italian companies are now showing great interest in developing their activities in Morocco.

“Given Italy’s growing interest in the strategic partnership with Morocco, particularly in the sectors of energy, logistics, and green technologies, we intend to do everything possible to help facilitate the access of Italian companies to the national market,” he insisted.

The creation of this chamber constitutes a significant step in strengthening economic and commercial relations between the two countries, with the goal of establishing a sustainable framework for cooperation between Moroccan and Italian business communities, by multiplying investment platforms, joint projects, and bilateral economic missions, added Mansoub.

For his part, Senator of the Italian Republic (government majority) and member of the Commission for Industry, Agriculture, Tourism, Commerce, and Crafts, Bartolomeo Amidei, welcomed the creation of this new chamber of commerce, which will consolidate cooperation between Morocco and Italy.

“Today, we inaugurated this process at the Senate headquarters, and this is only the beginning of a promising collaboration between the two parties,” he added.

The Italian senator also highlighted the partnership agreement for research and innovation in the Mediterranean region, called “PRIMA,” which can now serve as a lever for substantial collaboration to invigorate Italian-Moroccan cooperation.

For his part, the Secretary General of the CCMI, Paolo Spataro, welcomed the creation of this economic structure capable of facilitating exchanges, expanding commercial outlets, and encouraging investment between the two shores of the Mediterranean.

After highlighting the excellence of historical relations between Morocco and Italy, he expressed the wish to place the new Chamber at the service of Italian companies eager to access the Moroccan market and discover “this magnificent country, which certainly represents a very important perspective for our companies.”

In the same vein, the Secretary General of the General Confederation of Enterprises of Morocco (CGEM) Fès-Meknès, Mohamed Choukri Belkadi, estimated that the opening of this Moroccan-Italian Chamber of Commerce in Rome will undoubtedly intensify trade exchanges between the two countries.

While Italy is known for its technologies and expertise in many specialized fields, Morocco offers a favorable business climate and infrastructure for great investment opportunities, particularly in logistics, he noted, citing in this context the major ports of Tanger Med, Nador, and Dakhla.

For Belkadi, this new structure will offer opportunities to Italian investors in Morocco, particularly in the perspective of the 2030 World Cup, which will be co-organized by the Kingdom with Spain and Portugal, while also opening a gateway to the African continent, among others.

The inauguration of this first Chamber of Commerce in the Italian capital will be followed by the upcoming opening of other branches in several Italian regions.
