Human Development: Morocco Undertakes a Deep Transformation of Its Analysis and Monitoring Tools
The president of the National Observatory of Human Development (ONDH), Otmane Gair, emphasized on Tuesday in New York that Morocco, in line with the Royal vision of the Social State, is undertaking a profound transformation of its tools for analyzing and monitoring human development.
“This transformation is based on an approach that is at once multidimensional, territorialized, and forward-looking, aimed at anchoring a results-oriented culture and grounding public action on reliable, measurable, and field-based data,” noted Otmane Gair on the occasion of his visit at the head of an official delegation to the American metropolis, focused on strengthening cooperation between the Observatory and several specialized United Nations agencies. He explained, in this regard, that such an approach constitutes an essential lever to ensure the continuous improvement of the impact of public policies.
In this perspective, the president of the ONDH will hold consultations notably with senior officials from the UN Department of Economic and Social Affairs, the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), the UN Office for South-South Cooperation (UNOSSC), the UN Global Pulse initiative, as well as the Office of the Human Development Report.
These consultations mainly concern methodological alignment and harmonization, improvement of national data systems, and strengthening the capacity to evaluate public policies, according to a statement from the Observatory.
There is also a focus on exploring new avenues of technical cooperation between the ONDH and specialized UN agencies, particularly in the fields of data governance, conducting social satisfaction surveys, and territorial analysis.
