European Commission: The Agricultural Agreement Strengthens the Long-standing Partnership Between Rabat and Brussels
Both parties wish to further deepen this relationship in the coming months, particularly through the conclusion of a strategic partnership agreement.
The signing of the amended agricultural agreement between Morocco and the European Union (EU) reinforces the long-standing partnership between Rabat and Brussels, the European Commission stated on Monday.
The agricultural agreement concluded with Morocco aims to extend preferential tariff treatment to the Sahara region and is applied provisionally as of October 3, 2025, ensuring continuity and legal certainty for economic operators, the Commission said in a statement.
The European Commission noted that discussions on this matter will soon take place within the EU Council and the European Parliament.
It further specified that this text requires that proof of origin and product labeling clearly indicate the region of production (Dakhla and Laâyoune) and ensures that benefits are effectively granted to the relevant beneficiaries.
The European Executive also welcomed the “profound friendship” and “strong, multidimensional cooperation” built over the years by Rabat and Brussels, noting that both parties wish to further deepen this relationship in the coming months, particularly through the conclusion of a strategic partnership agreement.
