Employment: The unemployment rate falls to 12.8%

The unemployment rate reached 12.8% in the second quarter of 2025 according to the High Commission for Planning.

The unemployment rate decreased by 0.3 points between the second quarter of 2024 and that of 2025, falling from 13.1 to 12.8%.

The number of unemployed people declined by 38,000 over the same period,

falling from 1,633,000 to 1,595,000 unemployed, which corresponds to a 2% decrease.

This regression is the result of a decrease of 33,000 unemployed in rural areas and 5,000 in urban areas.

The construction sector created 74,000 jobs, recording a 6% increase in employment volume.

The “Services” and “Industry” sectors created 35,000 and 2,000 jobs respectively.

The “Agriculture, forestry and fishing” sector, for its part, lost 108,000 jobs (-4%).
