Eid al-Adha: Royal Pardon Granted to 1,376 People
King Mohammed VI has graciously granted a royal pardon, on the occasion of Eid al-Adha, to 1,376 individuals convicted by various courts in the Kingdom, some of whom are in detention while others are at liberty.
His Majesty King Mohammed VI, may God assist Him, has graciously granted His Pardon, on the occasion of Eid al-Adha, to 1,376 individuals convicted by various courts across the Kingdom, some of whom are in detention and others at liberty, according to a statement from the Ministry of Justice.
Here is the full text of the statement:
“On the occasion of Eid al-Adha of the year 1447 AH – 2026 AD, His Majesty King Mohammed VI, may God perpetuate His glory, has graciously granted His Pardon to a number of individuals convicted by various courts of the Kingdom. These individuals total 1,356 and are distributed as follows:
Among the beneficiaries of the Royal Pardon who are in detention, there are 1,195 prisoners, distributed as follows:
- Pardon of the remaining prison or custodial sentence for 13 detainees.
- Reduction of prison or custodial sentences for 1,180 detainees.
- Commutation of a life sentence to a fixed-term sentence for one (01) detainee.
- Commutation of a death sentence to life imprisonment for one (01) detainee.
Among the beneficiaries of the Royal Pardon who are at liberty, there are 161 persons, distributed as follows:
- Pardon of prison sentences or the remaining portion thereof for 63 persons.
- Pardon of prison sentences with the fine maintained for 4 persons.
- Pardon of fines for 78 persons.
- Pardon of both prison sentences and fines for 15 persons.
- Pardon of fines and the remaining prison sentence for one (01) person.
On this glorious occasion, His Majesty the King, may God preserve Him, has also graciously granted His Pardon to detainees convicted in cases of extremism and terrorism, who received Royal Approval after having formally expressed their attachment to the constants and sanctities of the Nation and its national institutions, revised their ideological orientations, and rejected extremism and terrorism. They number 20 persons, distributed as follows:
- Pardon of fines and the remaining custodial sentence for 2 detainees.
- Pardon of the remaining custodial sentence for 12 detainees.
- Reduction of custodial sentences for 6 detainees.
May God preserve His Majesty the King, source of clemency and mercy, perpetuate His glory, and protect His Royal Highness Crown Prince Moulay El Hassan as well as all members of the Royal Family.”
