Domestic demand improves by 6.5% in Q1 2026

This demand contributed 6.9 percentage points to national economic growth instead of 5.3 points, the HCP reports in its information note on the national economic situation for Q1-2026.

Domestic demand rose by 6.5% in the first quarter of 2026,

contributing 6.9 percentage points to national economic growth compared with 5.3 points a year earlier.

This increase was supported by the rise in household consumption (+4.6%) and public administration consumption (+4.9%).

Gross investment remained dynamic with a 10.8% increase, although its pace slowed compared with the previous year.

At the same time, national savings reached 31.4% of GDP, compared with 29.5% a year earlier.

With GDP up 5.7% and external income rising strongly, gross national disposable income increased by 6.8%.

Finally, investment represented 32.9% of GDP, creating a financing requirement limited to 1.5% of GDP.
