Datacenter: An agreement signed for the operationalization of “Igoudar Numérique” in Dakhla

The Ministry of Digital Transition and Administrative Reform, the Ministry of Energy Transition and Sustainable Development, the Wilaya of the Dakhla-Oued Eddahab region, the Regional Council, the Mohammed VI Investment Fund, and the Caisse de Dépôt et de Gestion have signed an agreement for the operationalization of the “Igoudar Numérique” green datacenter campus in Dakhla.
This agreement follows on from the one concluded on July 1, 2025, during the National Conference on Artificial Intelligence, aimed at creating synergies between national digital and energy transition strategies, as well as the agreement signed in Dakhla in November 2025 relating to the “Igoudar Numérique” program, which aims to develop, in Dakhla, a complex of next-generation green data centers with a target capacity of 500 megawatts.
Signed during the 4th edition of GITEX Africa Morocco, held from April 7 to 9 in Marrakech, this agreement reflects a convergence of public commitments in support of a structuring project with high strategic value for the Kingdom, according to a statement from the Ministry of Digital Transition and Administrative Reform.
Fully aligned with the Royal Vision calling for balanced and inclusive territorial development, placing regions at the heart of Morocco’s economic and technological transformation dynamics, it establishes digital sovereignty as a lever for territorial development, economic competitiveness, and the creation of skilled jobs for the future.
It also echoes the Atlantic Vision, promoted by His Majesty King Mohammed VI, may God assist Him, which aims to make the Atlantic coastline a strategic space for integration, innovation, and influence, particularly benefiting the southern provinces and their positioning as a regional hub toward Africa, the statement adds.
This partnership constitutes a major step in the realization of the “Igoudar Dakhla” program by formalizing the official launch of the strategic studies, an essential prerequisite for the effective implementation of this structuring project.
These studies aim in particular to define the program’s governance, specify the economic model, structure the deployment phases, and determine the structuring and financing mechanisms, with a view to optimally mobilizing public and private investment.
The program is based on the development of infrastructure structured around two complementary components: a sovereign component intended to meet national needs, and a private investment component open to both national and international stakeholders.
Through this initiative, Morocco confirms its ambition to position itself as a leading regional hub for sustainable digital infrastructure, at the crossroads of sovereignty, innovation, and continental integration.
