Cybersecurity: Rabat hosts the ANCA-CERT Executive Leadership Program
Morocco confirms its role as a regional cybersecurity hub by hosting in Rabat the ANCA-CERT Executive Leadership Programme; an initiative led by the DGSSI whose objective is to build coordinated African leadership.
This week the Moroccan capital establishes itself as the nerve center of African cybersecurity. From June 1 to 5, 2026, Rabat is hosting the Executive Leadership Programme in Cybersecurity organized by ANCA-CERT, the operational body of the African Network of Authorities in charge of Cybersecurity. The initiative benefits from the support of the Directorate General for Information Systems Security (DGSSI).
Government officials, policymakers, executive leaders, cybersecurity experts and representatives of regional and international organizations: the meeting brings together the key stakeholders of the sector across the continent around a common roadmap to face the growing challenges of the African cyberspace.
Governance, resilience and cooperation on the agenda
Designed as a strategic platform for exchange and reflection, the programme covers five major areas: cybersecurity governance, digital resilience, cyber crisis management, skills development and regional and international cooperation. Its content is aligned with the five pillars of the ITU’s Global Cybersecurity Index, the world reference for states’ cyber maturity. The ITU, CREST and FIRST are among the institutional partners associated with the initiative.
In his opening remarks, General Abdellah Boutrig, Vice-President of ANCA and Director General of the DGSSI, set the framework: cybersecurity is now a fundamental pillar of digital sovereignty and economic development. No country can tackle all cyber challenges alone, he reminded attendees, advocating information sharing, exchange of experiences and development of common capacities as essential levers of continental resilience.
General Boutrig also highlighted the unifying role of ANCA and ANCA-CERT in promoting a concerted African vision based on trust and solidarity, reaffirming Morocco’s commitment to support cyber capacity-building initiatives across the continent.
That commitment is taking concrete form. During a Council of Ministers chaired by His Majesty King Mohammed VI, two agreements were approved, concerning respectively the establishment in Morocco of ANCA-CERT’s Regional Support and Coordination Centre for cyber incident response, and the institutional presence of ANCA-CERT in the Kingdom.
Through this initiative, Rabat strengthens its positioning as a regional reference platform in cybersecurity, actively contributing to the emergence of a safer African digital ecosystem better prepared for the challenges of tomorrow.
