Craft Industry: Exports Rise 14% by End of July 2025

Craft Exports Surpass 737 Million Moroccan Dirhams (MAD) by End of July, Marking 14% Annual Growth. According to the State Secretariat for Crafts and the Social and Solidarity Economy, Moroccan handicraft exports exceeded 737 million dirhams (MAD) by the end of July 2025, reflecting a 14% year-on-year increase.  

The State Secretariat highlighted exceptional performance in July 2025, with a 34% growth rate in handicraft exports compared to July 2024, as noted in an official communiqué.  

“Pottery & Stone” dominated exports, contributing 33% of total export revenue, with sales rising 7%. “Carpets” retained their position as the second-most exported product (18% share), tied with “Traditional Clothing,” whose exports more than doubled compared to the same period in 2024. The third-largest categories were “Basketry” and “Miscellaneous,” each accounting for 8% of exports.  

Turkey saw a dramatic surge, with exports growing 53-fold year-on-year between January and July 2025, elevating its share of total exports from 0.2% to 7%. The United States strengthened its dominance, capturing half of Morocco’s handicraft exports (32% growth), while the European market’s share declined to 30%. France’s share dropped 5 percentage points to 11%, following a 26% decrease compared to 2024.  

Marrakech remained the leading export hub, contributing 42% of total exports with a 13% annual growth rate. Casablanca held second place with a 32% share. Fès stood out with a 47% growth rate, increasing its export revenue share by 4 percentage points to 16%, while Tangier accounted for 7% of total exports.
