Compensation and Staff Status: A Wind of Modernization Blows Through Sonarges
Sonarges has equipped itself to implement a competitive compensation policy tailored to its internal specifics, addressing challenges related to motivation, retention, and attractiveness, while incorporating mechanisms for recognizing performance and expertise.
In 2024, the National Company for the Realization and Management of Sports Facilities (Sonarges) saw its management scope expand to include 77 facilities, with the goal of making Morocco a model in the field of sports.
The public entity also supervises the modernization work of stadiums in preparation for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), as well as the 2030 World Cup, including the construction of the world’s largest stadium in Casablanca, a flagship project for the country.
Clearly, these new missions require strategic and organizational adaptation and modernization of the structure, which operates under the supervision of the Ministry of National Education, Preschool, and Sports. It is with this objective in mind that Sonarges recently launched an open tender for the overhaul of the compensation system and the development of staff status regulations, with the bid opening scheduled for December 8. The cost of the services is estimated at nearly 540,000 DH, and the overall contract duration is set at 3 months.
A Competitive Compensation Policy
According to the documents made public with the tender, the contract aims to support Sonarges in redesigning its compensation system and developing its staff status regulations. In detail, the mission includes, among other tasks, conducting an in-depth analysis of the current organization of the job classification and compensation system and updating the company’s organizational chart. This is to align it with its new missions, scope of activity, and current organizational needs.
The service provider will also need to design and implement a competitive compensation policy tailored to internal specifics, enabling the company to address its challenges, particularly in terms of motivation, retention, and attractiveness, while incorporating mechanisms for recognizing performance and expertise. Finally, the successful bidder will be responsible for developing the staff status regulations for Sonarges.
Ultimately, the aforementioned tender is part of the strategic and organizational transformation process initiated to support the expansion of the company’s scope of intervention, the diversification of its activities, and the upskilling of its human resources. Concretely, the public contract should enable the public structure to have a modern, coherent, and high-performing human resources management system. This will be achieved by aligning organizational structures, staff status regulations, and compensation policies with the strategic directions of the company.
