Casablanca Wholesale Fish Market: More Than 500 Tonnes on the 6th Day of Ramadan
The main deliveries came from Tan-Tan (186 tonnes), Safi (153 tonnes), and Laâyoune (66.8 tonnes).
The Lahraouyine wholesale fish market in Casablanca received more than 500 tonnes of fish on the 6th day of Ramadan. The volume included 491.9 tonnes of sardines and 10 tonnes of anchovies.
Supply is clearly up, with regular deliveries despite the strong demand during the holy month.
This momentum is attributed to measures introduced by the State Secretariat in charge of Maritime Fisheries, notably the biological rest period, as well as improved weather conditions.
The main landings came from Tan-Tan (186 tonnes), Safi (153 tonnes), and Laâyoune (66.8 tonnes). Other ports also contributed, such as Agadir, Essaouira, and Sidi Ifni.
This abundance helped stabilize prices, with an average of 8 dirhams per kilo for sardines and 6 dirhams for anchovies.
