CAN 2025: Morocco Introduces E-visa For Eight Countries
Some travelers, who are usually visa-exempt, will now need to obtain an Electronic Travel Authorization for Morocco (ETAM). This is a document that must be presented both at boarding and upon arrival.
With three months to go until the kickoff of AFCON 2025, scheduled from December 21, 2025, to January 18, 2026, Morocco is implementing a system to better manage the arrival of its many supporters.
In a statement published on September 19 on the network X (formerly Twitter), Royal Air Maroc announced that some travelers, who are usually visa-exempt, will need to obtain an Electronic Travel Authorization for Morocco (ETAM), to be presented both at boarding and upon arrival. This measure will be applied from September 25, 2025, to January 25, 2026.
The nationals concerned by this measure are those of Senegal, Algeria, Burkina Faso, Cape Verde, Gabon, Niger, Togo, and Tunisia.
The categories exempted from this obligation
The holders of diplomatic, service, special, or official passports, residents in Morocco holding a valid residence permit, passengers in transit through Moroccan airports (without leaving the international zone), are exempted from this obligation. The same applies to the spouses of Moroccan nationals (with proof), and travelers aged over 55.
The national carrier also specified that supporters who wish to attend the matches of AFCON 2025 will have to submit an authorization request via the “YALLA” application set up by the Royal Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF).
“For any other purpose of travel—whether it be tourism, business, or family visits—the procedure will be done via the official portal http://acces-maroc.ma/,” it added.
