CAN 2025 : Establishment of judicial offices in stadiums
This initiative constitutes a new institutional mechanism intended for the management of cases likely to be submitted to the public prosecutor in connection with possible offenses committed during matches.
As part of the preparations related to the Kingdom’s hosting of major continental sporting competitions, foremost among them the Africa Cup, the inauguration of judicial offices in the concerned stadiums took place today, notably at the Prince Moulay Abdellah Sports Complex in Rabat.
This initiative constitutes a new institutional mechanism intended for the management of cases likely to be submitted to the public prosecutor in connection with possible offenses committed during matches.
This approach aims to establish a modern and effective method for handling cases within sports venues, by enabling representatives of the public prosecutor’s office, in coordination with security services and the competent authorities, to intervene immediately in the event of potential situations. It thus guarantees speed in decision-making, full respect for individual rights and the guarantees of a fair trial, maintenance of order and security in stadiums, while easing the burden on the courts.
On this occasion, the Minister of Justice, Abdellatif Ouahbi, emphasized that this initiative reflects the State’s determination to make justice a present, responsible, and effective actor during the largest sporting events, stating: “The establishment of these judicial offices in the stadiums hosting the Africa Cup reflects a clear vision: Morocco is capable of combining high-level sporting spectacle with respect for the law. We want a justice system close to the citizen, swift in its decisions, while remaining fully committed to the protection of rights and freedoms. This is both a reform measure and a reassuring message addressed to the public: stadiums are spaces of enjoyment, safety, and responsibility”.
This initiative once again confirms the Kingdom’s commitment to establishing an advanced model for managing issues related to sports spaces, strengthening trust in institutions and consolidating the image of a Morocco capable of organizing major events in compliance with the law and international standards.
