The new president of the RNI highlights the coherence of public action, guided by economic sovereignty and the strengthening of social protection. Water infrastructure, green hydrogen, direct social assistance and public investment, he argues, reflect a strategy capable of combining macroeconomic resilience, budgetary stability and support for purchasing power, despite an adverse environment.
For the new president of the RNI, assessing the record of Aziz Akhannouch’s government must first take into account the context: an unfavourable geostrategic environment, a slowdown in major global economic drivers (the United States, China, Europe), and severe climate constraints such as drought and flooding.
“In this difficult environment, the record is exceptional. It is built on coherence, a clear vision and direction, inspired by the enlightened vision of His Majesty the King: economic sovereignty and the strengthening of the social welfare system,” emphasises Mohamed Chaouki.
Addressing the issue of sovereignty, the former president of the RNI parliamentary group points to water transfer highways, energy sovereignty (notably through Morocco’s green hydrogen offering), food sovereignty, and the development of “Made in Morocco”.
“On the social front, the figures speak for themselves: 52 billion dirhams in direct social assistance, the state’s coverage of health insurance contributions, 46 billion dirhams in commitments arising from social dialogue, and 380 billion dirhams in public investment,” he notes.
At the macroeconomic level, the record is also strong: an average GDP growth of 4.5%, inflation at 0.8%, a budget deficit reduced to 3%, and public debt at 67% of GDP. “This reflects a resilient, emerging economy capable of financing a social policy,” concludes the former chairman of the Finance Committee.
