BAM: 10, 50, 100, and 200 DH Banknotes Withdrawn from Circulation

Starting this year, these banknotes will lose their legal tender status and can no longer be used for payments. However, they can be exchanged free of charge at Bank Al-Maghrib and commercial banks from January 1, 2026, to December 31, 2030.

Bank Al-Maghrib has announced the withdrawal of several old dirham banknote series, effective January 1, 2026, in accordance with Decree No. 2.25.966 of December 23, 2025.

The decision concerns the 10, 50, 100, and 200 dirham banknotes issued in 1987, the 10 dirham banknotes from 1990, as well as the 20 dirham banknotes from 1996.

Starting this year, these banknotes will lose their legal tender status and can no longer be used for payments. However, they can be exchanged free of charge at Bank Al-Maghrib and commercial banks from January 1, 2026, to December 31, 2030.

This measure aims to modernize the national currency and enhance the security of banknotes.
