Akhannouch: “Pension reform is based on consensus”
The Head of Government stated, during a meeting with the press, that pension reform remains under discussion with the trade unions within the technical committee, and that the Executive is favouring an approach grounded in consultation and consensus.
During a meeting with the press, Aziz Akhannouch stated that the government’s vision and policy choices regarding pension system reform have already been presented to the trade unions. “It is considered a necessary choice, but its technical feasibility is still under review.”
The trade unions are taking time to reflect on the relevance of moving to this stage, weighing the pros and cons, particularly in terms of social and political acceptability. The government has assured the unions that it does not intend to impose the reform without consensus, noting that despite delays, dialogue and working committees remain active. It remains committed to compromise, even if negotiations may be lengthy.
Akhannouch nevertheless warned: “The more time passes, the higher the cost will be.”
