Agadir: Reception of 70 New Urban Transport Buses
58 other buses will be received at the same port in early November, while 41 more will arrive at the port of Casablanca starting next week. The operation will involve a total of 247 buses in the Greater Agadir area.
A total of 70 new buses were received on Saturday at the port of Agadir, as part of the implementation of the first phase of the new urban public bus transport program for the 2025–2029 period.
The Greater Agadir conurbation is among the first six cities to benefit from this first phase of the program, which aims to equip all cities in the Kingdom with adequate urban transport, capable of meeting the aspirations and expectations of citizens in both qualitative and quantitative terms.
In a statement to MAP, the operations director at the Grand Agadir Local Development Company for Mobility and Urban Transport, Jamal Barkach, explained that under this program, 58 other buses will be received at the same port in early November, while 41 more will arrive at the port of Casablanca starting next week, noting that the operation in the Greater Agadir area will involve a total of 247 buses.
Mr. Barkach emphasized that this operation complements the Agadir Urban Development Program 2020–2024, particularly in its component dedicated to urban transport, which has already enabled the acquisition of high-level service buses (BHNS).
The urban public bus transport program lays the foundations for a new governance of sustainable mobility in service of citizens. It also aligns directly with the High Royal Guidelines contained in the message addressed by HM King Mohammed VI in December 2024 to the second National Conference on Advanced Regionalization, held in Tangier.
With a budget of nearly 11 billion dirhams, the said program is equally funded by the Ministry of the Interior (General Directorate of Local Authorities), the Ministry of Economy and Finance, and the 12 regions of the Kingdom.
This nationwide program aims to equip all cities in the Kingdom with a modern, inclusive, and sustainable urban and peri-urban transport system, always placing the quality of service offered to citizens at the heart of the concerns of public authorities.
