The Confederation of African Football unveiled the official ball of the Africa Cup of Nations on Monday, which will be held in Morocco in 2025.
Named ITRI, the official ball of AFCON-Morocco 2025 is inspired by the ancestral art of Moroccan zellige, famous for its refined geometric mosaics. It embodies both the unity and the passion that drive African football across the continent.
The name “ITRI” echoes the star on the Moroccan flag and the stellar motifs, characteristic of the zellige tradition, the same source adds, noting that the ball will make its first appearance during the opening match of the competition on December 21, 2025.
The ball’s design highlights the traditional geometric motifs of Moroccan zellige, characterized by a central star, floral shapes, and circular symmetry. Each element carries a cultural meaning.
This includes the star, which symbolizes ambition, light, and the quest for excellence on the greatest stage of African football, as well as the petals, which represent celebration, growth, and the festive dimension, while the circular symmetry evokes the unity of the 24 nations gathered for this continental event.
