2026: The Major Projects That Will Break Ground
Titanic public facilities and gigantic industrial units will become part of the landscape from next year. A closer look at 12 projects that demonstrate the dynamism of their respective sectors and will change the daily lives of Moroccans.
As Morocco beautifully concludes 2025 with a continental celebration worthy of this proud and exceptional Kingdom, it is not premature to look ahead to next year.
2026 will be marked by the commissioning of titanic public facilities and the operational launch of strategic industrial units.
A multitude of sectors are involved. To begin, in the water sector, the Casablanca desalination plant will become a reality.
Casablanca residents will see water treated by this infrastructure flow from their taps, while awaiting their fellow citizens in all coastal cities benefiting, within three or four years, from various desalination plants planned across the Kingdom.
The one in Dakhla will this year irrigate some 5,200 hectares and will foster the emergence of farms using 2.0 irrigation: an illustration of the acceleration of Morocco’s agricultural transition, relying on innovative water solutions and intelligent water management.
The year 2026 will also see the commissioning of the new Ibn Sina Hospital in Rabat. The resurrection of this iconic healthcare facility promises a profound transformation of the public hospital.
Train travelers, already delighted to see the new Rabat Ryad station become operational, will gradually discover the transformation of mobility in the capital and the metamorphosis of the country’s rail transport.
Road users who have, for some, experienced the new Tit Mellil-Berrechid highway section, will follow with great interest the completion of the first phase of the Guercif-Nador axis. By next summer, a first 27 km section linking Driouch to Nador West Med will be delivered.
This new major energy, industrial, and logistics hub is also expected in 2026 to bring the Oriental region into the big league. In the industrial sector, 2026 should see the emergence of automotive batteries, produced at the Gotion High Tech factory in Kénitra.
A new upgrade for this industry, much like the Safran group’s aircraft engine production unit project.
Projects that testify to a winning industrial strategy, which is already proving itself in the defense sector: “made in Morocco” armored vehicles are expected to enter service in 2026 and could be deployed among African allies.
So many projects are also awaited, whether in the mining, electricity, or gas sectors… They all herald promising prospects for this emerging Morocco. A non-exhaustive selection of about a dozen projects expected in 2026. Happy New Year!
