HBO has confirmed an early second‑season renewal of its forthcoming Harry Potter television series, signalling strong confidence in the project months before the first season premieres at Christmas. The second instalment will adapt Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets and is scheduled to begin filming in autumn 2026 as part of an overlapping production strategy designed to keep the decade‑long, seven‑season adaptation on an accelerated timeline. To support this pace, writer Jon Brown has been promoted to co‑showrunner alongside Francesca Gardiner, a move framed as essential to maintaining creative and logistical momentum across consecutive seasons. The series is positioned as a comprehensive, book‑by‑book re‑adaptation of J.K. Rowling’s novels for television, produced by HBO in association with Brontë Film and TV and Warner Bros. Television, with Rowling, David Heyman and Mark Mylod among the executive producers.
