Electronic Payments: NAPS Supports the Modernization of the Foreign Exchange Sector
The operator announced the signing of a strategic partnership with the Moroccan Federation of Foreign Exchange Companies. It offers an integrated, turnkey technological solution specifically designed to meet the requirements of the sector.
Within the framework of the new regulation authorizing currency exchange offices to accept electronic payments via electronic payment terminals (EPTs), NAPS announced the signing of a strategic partnership with the Moroccan Federation of Foreign Exchange Companies.
This partnership formalizes a collaboration that has been underway for several months between the operator and the Federation, with the aim of supporting affiliated exchange offices in the operational implementation of this new regulatory framework. It is based on an integrated, turnkey technological offering specifically designed to meet the sector’s requirements.
The solution is built on two complementary pillars developed to address the specific needs of exchange offices: the deployment of a dedicated EPT application within exchange offices affiliated with the Federation, enabling in particular the acceptance of international bank card payments, and the NAPS Afrikard, onto which the exchanged amount in dirhams can be loaded instantly, offering customers a digital, secure, and convenient alternative to cash withdrawals. This comprehensive solution is the result of close collaboration with the Federation over several months.
As Morocco prepares to host the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, the implementation of this solution emerges as a concrete and structuring response to secure foreign exchange operations while improving the traveler experience.
By facilitating transactions, limiting reliance on cash, and strengthening payment security, this initiative contributes to smoother financial exchanges. It also helps align the foreign exchange sector with international standards, thereby enhancing Morocco’s attractiveness and credibility on a global scale. Beyond the sporting event, this approach is part of a sustainable vision to modernize the Kingdom’s financial and tourism ecosystem.
