Economic Partnership: Morocco’s CGEM Sets Its Sights on Mexico
Morocco and Mexico share numerous and varied sectors of common interest, with both countries holding similar ambitions in industry, agribusiness, tourism, renewable energy, and technological innovation.
The General Confederation of Enterprises of Morocco (CGEM), led by its President Chakib Alj, is conducting a high-level economic mission to Mexico from September 22 to 25, 2025.
This visit, organized in coordination with the Embassy of the Kingdom of Morocco in Mexico, aims to strengthen economic and trade relations between the two countries and explore new investment and partnership opportunities in sectors of common interest, a CGEM statement indicates.
The program for this mission includes institutional and economic meetings, notably with the Confederation of Industrial Chambers (CONCAMIN), the Business Coordinating Council (CCE), as well as members of the Mexican government, the statement notes.
B2B meetings and visits to industrial cities such as Puebla and Guadalajara are also on the agenda, the same source adds.
“The sectors of common interest between Morocco and Mexico are numerous and varied. Both countries share the same ambitions in industry, agribusiness, tourism, renewable energy, and technological innovation,” stated Mr. Alj, as quoted in the statement.
“Morocco, which has experienced remarkable growth in recent years under the leadership of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, now stands as Africa’s top automobile producer, the continent’s leading aerospace hub, the second-largest pharmaceutical producer, and the top African exporter of textiles to Europe, in addition to achievements in agribusiness, tourism, and renewable energy,” emphasized Mr. Alj.
He also noted that thanks to its stability, its strategic geographical location at the crossroads of Africa and Europe, its world-class infrastructure such as Tanger Med, its talent pool, and its structural reforms—including the new Investment Charter and the Mohammed VI Investment Fund—Morocco can become an essential hub for international investments, particularly from Mexico, and for win-win partnerships.
“Mexico can also represent, for Moroccan entrepreneurs, a gateway to the entire Latin American market,” added the President of the CGEM.
