Morocco-Poland: A Strategic Partnership in Agriculture Under Negotiation

The development of agricultural cooperation between the Kingdom of Morocco and the Republic of Poland took center stage during a meeting held on Tuesday in Warsaw between Morocco’s Minister of Agriculture, Maritime Fisheries, Rural Development, and Water and Forests, Ahmed El Bouari, and Poland’s Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Stefan Krajewski.

Held as part of Mr. El Bouari’s working visit to Poland, leading a delegation, the meeting focused on strategic issues related to expanding trade relations, ensuring food safety standards for agricultural products, advancing scientific training, and promoting research and development (R&D).

Following the meeting, Mr. El Bouari stated that his visit to Poland reflects the shared commitment to strengthening friendly relations and bilateral cooperation. He emphasized the complementary nature of the two countries’ economies, particularly in agriculture and agri-food sectors, as well as their aligned visions for building a mutually beneficial strategic partnership.

“Our discussions reaffirmed our determination to elevate this bilateral cooperation into a structured, long-term partnership that serves shared food security and socio-economic development goals,” the minister noted. He highlighted that bilateral agricultural trade reached a total of 1.7 billion dirhams between 2022 and 2024.

For his part, Mr. Krajewski remarked that the meeting identified concrete areas of cooperation to serve as a platform for boosting bilateral trade, encouraging knowledge exchange, and enhancing academic collaboration in agriculture.

“This meeting sends a strong signal of growing ties between our two nations, grounded in dialogue and cooperation. Poland views Morocco as a stable partner and a valued friend in North Africa. We are confident that together, we can build bridges between Europe and Africa through mutual dialogue and tangible projects,” the Polish minister emphasized.

During his visit, Mr. El Bouari engaged with key Polish agricultural stakeholders to explore cooperative opportunities. He toured the Bronisze Agro-Food Wholesale Market, Poland’s largest fresh produce and flower distribution center since 1995 and a major hub in Central and Eastern Europe. The visit identified potential collaboration in logistics and commercial trade.

The agenda also included a visit to Poland’s largest poultry production facility, where modern production processes were reviewed and opportunities for cooperation in poultry farming were explored.

Mr. El Bouari further visited the Warsaw University of Life Sciences and the Institute of Horticulture, discussing training programs, applied research, and technological innovation in fruit and vegetable production.

Accompanying the minister during the visit were Rachid Benali, President of the Moroccan Confederation of Agriculture and Rural Development (COMADER), representatives from agricultural professional organizations, and senior officials from the ministry.
