Raspberry and Blackberry Exports: Morocco Leads the MENA Region
With a volume of 63,000 tons, Moroccan exports accounted for approximately 97% of total shipments in the MENA region in 2024.
Moroccan raspberries and blackberries are highly sought after by consumers in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA). According to IndexBox, a platform specializing in agricultural markets, Morocco was the leading exporter of these red berries in these markets in 2024, with a volume of 63,000 tons, representing roughly 97% of total exports.
Turkey holds second place with 1,200 tons. Between 2013 and 2024, Moroccan shipments recorded an average annual growth of 28.5%, while Turkish sales saw an increase of 41.7%.
“In value terms, Morocco ($486 million) remains the top supplier of raspberries and blackberries in the MENA region, accounting for 99% of total exports. Turkey ($1.6 million) occupies second place, with a 0.3% share of total exports,” the same source adds.
Regarding export prices, the report reveals that last year, the average export price was $7,588 per ton (a 7.2% increase compared to 2023). Rabat’s export price stood at $7,693 per ton, while Ankara’s was $1,300 per ton.
With a volume of 4,800 tons (representing nearly 55% of total imports), Saudi Arabia was the primary importer of raspberries and blackberries in the MENA region, followed by the United Arab Emirates (1,300 tons), Qatar (1,011 tons), and Kuwait (759 tons).
