Bank Al-Maghrib: Award Ceremony for the Economic and Financial Research Prize

Bank Al-Maghrib organized, on Wednesday, May 14, in Rabat, the award ceremony for the second edition of the «Bank Al-Maghrib Prize for Economic and Financial Research ».

For this second edition, after reviewing 30 submissions, the reading committee, composed of university professors and experts, selected 6 candidates to present their work before the Prize Jury.

After deliberations, the Jury awarded several prizes: the Excellence Prize to Faïçal Lakhchen from Ibn Zohr University in Agadir for his work «Financial frictions and the dynamics of the economic cycle in Morocco: Bayesian estimation of a nonlinear DSGE model augmented with a banking sector »; the Encouragement Prize to Imane Bounadi from the Hassan II Agronomic and Veterinary Institute in Rabat for her work «Water depollution in the olive oil industry in Morocco: Cost estimation and policy implications »; and the Favorite Prize to Oumaima Er-reyyahy from Hassan II University in Casablanca for her work «Determinants of the effectiveness of territorial public investment in Morocco ».

Bank Al-Maghrib congratulates the winners and thanks all candidates for their interest in this edition.

The ceremony was marked by the presence of Governor Christopher J. Waller, a distinguished member of the Board of Governors of the U.S. Federal Reserve. As guest of honor, he gave a lecture on the role of academic research in public policy making, particularly monetary policy. The event also saw the participation of prominent Moroccan figures from the economic, financial, and academic sectors.
