Caftan Week 2025: A masterclass at the crossroads of generations

On the occasion of Caftan Week 2025, an unprecedented masterclass brought together three figures of contemporary Moroccan fashion around a key theme: how to transmit a heritage without confining it, and how to create without denying one’s roots? A rare exchange between generations, materials, and worldviews.

Between living tradition and contemporary vision, Caftan Week 2025 offered «a rare moment of transmission, through a masterclass dedicated to the new paths of Moroccan fashion»,according to a statement.

Titled «Heritage & Creation: The new paths of Moroccan fashion », this session brought together three major figures of creation: Sara Chraibi (Maison Chraibi), Saïd Mahrouf (Said Mahrouf), and Yasmine Erguibi (Doum). In a free and generous format, «each shared their journey, convictions, inspirations », the same source emphasizes, thus offering young generations a sincere and nuanced view of the realities of the profession.

Led by Douja Belkhayat, the masterclass «allowed rich exchanges between the speakers and the audience », it is specified. Students, young designers, professionals, and enthusiasts were thus able to discuss with the creators the place of heritage in the creative process, the relationship to gesture, material, territory, but also the contemporary challenges of transmission, ethics, and reinvention.

Whether it was about enhancing a craft gesture, diverting a traditional code, or experimenting with a new material, the participants delivered «committed, generous, often intimate » testimonies, notes the same source. The session allowed essential questions to be raised: how to perpetuate without freezing? How to innovate without breaking? And above all, how to make Moroccan clothing a language both rooted and in perpetual reinvention?

By fostering this intergenerational dialogue, Caftan Week 2025 «asserts, once again, that creation is not only transmitted: it is shared, it opens up, it is thought together», concludes the statement.
