The Confederation of African Football (CAF) and Royal Air Maroc have forged a historic strategic partnership, granting the Moroccan national airline the status of ‘Official Global Partner’ for several major competitions, according to a joint statement.

This partnership encompasses the TotalEnergies Africa Cup of Nations Morocco 2025, the TotalEnergies Women’s Africa Cup of Nations Morocco 2024, the TotalEnergies Africa U-17 Cup of Nations 2025, the TotalEnergies Africa U-20 Cup of Nations 2025, the TotalEnergies CAF Champions League Finals 2024/2025, the TotalEnergies CAF Confederation Cup Finals 2024/2025, and the CAF Women’s Champions League 2025, the statement clarifies.

This agreement strengthens Royal Air Maroc’s presence by solidifying its role as a gateway between Africa and the world, while highlighting Morocco’s rise as a global sporting hub, the statement adds. Morocco is preparing to host the TotalEnergies Africa Cup of Nations Morocco 2025, scheduled from 21 December 2025 to 18 January 2026, and the TotalEnergies Women’s Africa Cup of Nations Morocco 2024, which will take place from 5 to 26 July 2025. The country will also co-host the FIFA World Cup 2030, the statement notes.

Royal Air Maroc has consistently demonstrated strong commitment to African sports, notably serving as the Official Carrier for the Atlas Lions during the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar, where the Moroccan national team became the first African nation to reach the semi-finals, the statement recalls.

Patrice Motsepe, CAF President, stated: “We are thrilled to formalize this partnership between CAF and Royal Air Maroc, a world-class airline that will provide comfort and safety to the participating national teams in the TotalEnergies Africa Cup of Nations Morocco 2025 and the TotalEnergies Women’s Africa Cup of Nations Morocco 2024. We are confident that AFCON 2025 will be the most successful in history, and we look forward to seeing more Moroccan and African businesses support African football.”

Hamid Addou, CEO of Royal Air Maroc, declared: “This historic partnership with CAF aligns perfectly with our strategic vision as an airline deeply rooted in Africa and committed to its development. Royal Air Maroc does not merely connect destinations—it builds bridges between cultures and passions. By supporting the continent’s premier football competitions, we reaffirm our role as facilitators of human and sporting exchanges, while offering our passengers quality service and an exceptional experience marked by African emotion and pride.”

Beyond its partnership status, Royal Air Maroc will enhance mobility for players, teams, and fans across the continent and globally, the statement notes. To meet increased demand during CAF events, the airline will implement unprecedented operational and commercial measures. Royal Air Maroc will significantly expand its flight schedule, with capacity and services tailored to supporters’ needs, the statement specifies. This initiative will be enabled by fleet expansion during major sporting events, ensuring a wider choice of flights and destinations, the statement adds.

The flight schedule has been designed to meet the expectations of supporters residing in participating African nations, while facilitating travel for the global African diaspora to Morocco, the statement emphasizes. The goal is to enable everyone to fully experience this grand celebration of African football, the statement concludes.”
