The National Office of Airports (ONDA) held its Board of Directors meeting on Wednesday, April 2, 2025, at its headquarters at Casablanca Mohammed V Airport. Presided over by Abdessamad Kayouh, Minister of Transport and Logistics, and attended by Ryad Mezzour, Minister of Industry and Trade, the meeting reviewed the achievements of the 2024 fiscal year, projections for 2025, and the progress of key projects under the «Airports 2030» strategy.
It is no exaggeration to say that 2024 was a successful year for ONDA. Financially, the office confirmed its robustness, with indicators showing strong growth. ONDA’s revenue exceeded 5.4 billion dirhams, an increase of 14% compared to 2023. The operating result progressed by 34% to 1.9 billion dirhams. These performances improved ONDA’s self-financing capacity, which reached 2.1 billion dirhams, an increase of 8%.
In terms of passenger traffic, 2024 will also be remembered. Air traffic recorded a record of 32.7 million passengers, a 21% increase compared to 2023’s performance. This strong growth was achieved thanks to the launch of about twenty new international routes connecting Casablanca, Tangier, Tetouan, and Marrakech to major European cities, as well as the reinforcement of domestic lines.
Airports: A New Vision Initiated
ONDA also undertook several major transformation and realization projects during the past year, testifying to the transformation dynamic initiated by ONDA. The «Airports 2030» strategy was launched in December 2024 through the presentation of its main lines to the Office’s executives and employees.
Strategic appointments were also made in 2024, including the installation of new directors at Casablanca Mohammed V, Nador El Aroui, Al Hoceima Cherif Al Idrissi, Tetouan Sania R’mel, and Laayoune Hassan I airports.
In terms of infrastructure, ONDA began a significant improvement project for its airport platforms, particularly at Casablanca Mohammed V Airport, through the commissioning of a new transit area.
ONDA also launched the construction of a new terminal at Casablanca. This technical feat will have a capacity of 20 million passengers per year and is expected to be completed by 2029.
The new terminal at Rabat Airport will be delivered before the end of the year. This project aims to equip the capital with a modern and state-of-the-art airport infrastructure, equipped with the latest airport equipment, allowing an additional capacity of 4 million passengers per year.
2025: Targeting 37.6 Million Passengers
Regarding the 2025 outlook, traffic is expected to continue its dynamic growth with a 15% increase to 37.6 million passengers. The current year will thus be resolutely focused on implementing the «Airports 2030» strategy, strengthening investment, improving customer experience, and preparing for the 2030 FIFA World Cup.
The 2025 budget is part of a sustained growth logic, with investments of 13.2 billion dirhams. This envelope will be dedicated mainly to extending the airports of the host cities for the 2030 World Cup, launching the new terminal project at Casablanca Mohammed V Airport, expanding the airports of Tangier, Agadir, Fez, and Marrakech, and finalizing the new terminals at Rabat-Salé and Tetouan Saniat R’mel.
At the end of their work, the members of ONDA’s Board of Directors praised the performances achieved in 2024, paid tribute to ONDA’s teams for their commitment, and reaffirmed their support for the «Airports 2030» strategy. The Office will continue its investments to support air traffic growth, improve customer experience, and contribute to Morocco’s strong economic development dynamic.
